Archive for Victoria Pendleton
For a moment greenjersey thought that a youthful Liz Hurley had rocked up in Liverpool for the Awards Ceremony but thinking about it he doubts that she knows where The Pool is.
It was instead the amazing Victoria Pendleton who just gets more and more stunning. That woman is made for the Red Carpet!
I am pleased to see that Victoria has now given us right wingers a treat by featuring in saturday’s Daily Telegraph. During a wide ranging interview with Chris Harvey she again reveals her feminine side. There is also, predictably, an attractive photo of the svelte sprinter.

As regular visiters (hi Mark) know this blog attracts a very small but select group. Such is the explosion of enthusiasm for Vicky Pendleton that last Sunday greenjersey received over 3000 hits! Come Monday I was down to earth with a bump with less than a tenth of that number visiting.
But great as Vicky was Manchester wasn’t all about her. For me the highlight of the British successes was Brad and Cav’s win in the madison where they kept battering away until they got that lap. What a contrast with the great Bruno Risi who gained a lap with ease. Will we see Romero mania? What a pedaller! she makes it look effortless.
You can’t argue with Chris Hoy’s results, the first from the UK to win the sprint since Reg Harris, but to be honest it all leaves me cold. I don’t think the endless shots of his bloody parents helped.
For what it is worth I felt the ride of the championships wasn’t by a Brit but was by Aliaksandr Lisouski of Belarus in the Mens Scratch Race. Riding alone he almost gained a lap early in the race and in the finale he still had the energy to chase and catch the Japanese leader. Great stuff.
If there is going to be a little sex introduced into our sport as a change from the endless diet of drug stories who better than the divine Victoria Pendleton? In a rambling two page interview in the Sunday Times tantalisingly headed “Victoria’s Secrets” ex-pro Paul Kimmage just couldn’t keep his mind on the task in hand and who can blame him. I struggled to finish the article but the photos, Oh my! That woman has the best legs since Rik Van Looy. In November Victoria won the Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year award which was richly deserved. Lets hope she gets that sprint gold in Peking then we will see even more of her in the mainstream press.
Victoria Pendleton not about to go training
I want to believe that all those lottery millions are being spent on a worthwhile cause yet I cannot become enthusiastic about Britain’s track success. I would much prefer Bradley Wiggins to get one podium place in the Tour of Flanders than win a hat full of track Golds.
It is not difficult, however, to enthuse about the wonderful Victoria Pendleton who today won a third gold medal. I guess this makes her the most successful British sprinter of all time, Reg Harris included. Yet could she look less like a sprinter? More like size zero!
Surely Victoria has the perfect build to transfer to the road. With Nicole Cooke leading her out she would be unbeatable in the Olympic road race. I guess she will prefer the more certain success of the track and the funding that comes with it rather than try for the far greater prestige of uncertain success on the road.
