The Killer returns

President of Team Katusha, Andrei  Tchmil has signed returning doper Danilo Di Luca on a one year “paid by results” contract. The Killer received a two year sentence, later reduced to fifteen months for co-operating with the authorities, having twice testing positive for Epo Cera in the 2009 Giro.

Di Luca says the peloton has changed and there is now some chance of winning clean so he is happy to ride “for free” and pick up win bonuses. The 2007 Giro winner, now aged 35, says he feels like a new man and although Astana wanted him he needed a “big change” so went for the Russian team.

All this is good news for Di Luca, if not for the sport, but I don’t expect the staff and riders at LPR brakes who were thrown out of work when the team folded will be over the moon.

  1. When will the sport REALLY change for the best.

Why the hell is the Governing bodies of professional cycling allowing drug cheats like Mr Di Luca back in to the sport.
I have some sympathy for professional cyclist who feel then need to cheat as the rewards are so great even if they get caught. But I have no sympathy for the individuals within the governing bodies that allow cheats back into the sport, I feel it is corrupt somewhere down the line.
It most definitely not fair for those that have always raced clean and missed out on wins due to the fact that they were/are competing under unfair circumstances.

I say cheat with drugs like eps cera and your banned for life from the sport completely.

I see no reason why we would want to see a professional cheat race again, especially when there is plenty of new talented riders waiting to join the professional peloton.
