Adam Blythe to start De Ronde

Twenty year old Adam Blythe starts Sunday’s Tour of Flanders at the request of Omega Pharma-Lotto leader Philippe Gilbert. Team Manager Marc Sargeant said that we was very satisfied with Blythe’s work at Gent-Wevelgem.  ” He guided me perfectly through the pack on those narrow roads, added Philippe Gilbert. He is a boy we can make good use of on Sunday. He has not the capacity to ride 260 kilometers but in the first half of the race he can be very useful. He has no fear and is superb in the peloton. That is a talent that you have or that you have not. And it is a blessing for a team leader.

Gilbert seems to be short of the brilliant form he had at the end of last season and no doubt Blythe’s work will be over by the time the tele coverage starts but good luck to the young Brit on the biggest day of his road career.
