New hope resorts to old methods

The Dutch professional continental cycling team Vacansoleil has cancelled the contract of the Frenchman Clement Lhotellerie by mutual agreement with the rider. Lhotellerie is one of the great young hopes of the French cycling, especially after his excellent performance last year in Paris-Nice.

Lhotellerie (23) tested positive on April 26 for the doping product methylhexaneamine(no, I don’t know either but take a look at “geranamine” in Wikipedia). The Frenchman is said to have attributed the  positive test to his use of the vegetable oil geranium.

Lhotellerie was 11th in  Paris-Nice after an attacking race, 11th in Fleche Wallonne and second in the Four Days of Dunkirk.

Following hard on the news of Thomas Decker’s use of EPO this story further undermines the claim that we have a new, clean generation of riders.
