ugly as well as, apparently, useless
greenjersey strolled down to Borders this afternoon to check out the latest mags and in the Febuary edition of a Triathlon magazine was a review of Mavic’s lightweight R-SYS wheels. At £950 the pair greenjersey is unlikely to indulge but was nevertheless interested to read that they are “rock solid” and scored 8/10.
What a surprise to read on Velonews later in the day that Mavic have issued a recall of the front wheels and advised that they not be used. Apparently the situation is so serious that Mavic will hand out a pair of Askiums as a stop-gap until the improved R-SYS front wheels are available. Better yet the Askiums are for keeps. Hollow carbon spokes? I don’t think so. greenjersey is happy with DT double butted stainless.
